Detailed Itinerary

On arrival, you will be warmly welcomed by the Goma Travel team before driving to Thimphu. Along the way, stop to admire the historic Tamcho Bridge, an iron chain bridge built in the 14th century. In the afternoon, explore the colorful Centenary Farmers Market, a lively place to experience Bhutanese culture through its local products and atmosphere.

Travel towards Punakha Valley. The road takes you through Dochula Pass at an altitude of 3150 meters where on clear days the entire eastern Himalayan range can be seen. This is also where 108 chortens stand beautifully. Continue to Lobesa village and enjoy a pleasant walk through the rice fields before reaching Punakha.

Begin the morning with a hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten which offers stunning views over the valley and rivers. In the afternoon, visit Punakha Dzong, one of the most magnificent fortresses in Bhutan that has played an important role in the country’s history.

In the morning, cross the longest suspension bridge in Bhutan decorated with colorful prayer flags. Continue with a scenic drive to Phobjikha Valley which is surrounded by the Black Mountains. This glacial valley is one of the most beautiful places in Bhutan and is also known for being the winter home of the endangered black necked cranes.

Visit Gangtey Goemba, a monastery from the 16th century sitting on a hilltop overlooking the valley. Take a gentle walk through the small traditional village and continue along the Gangtey Nature Trail which passes through pine forests and opens into the vast meadows of the valley.

The journey back to Paro takes you once again across Dochula Pass with another chance to admire the Himalayan views. Continue through the winding roads until you reach the beautiful Paro Valley.

Start early for the famous hike to Paro Taktsang also known as the Tiger’s Nest Monastery. Perched dramatically on a cliff 900 meters above the valley, it is one of Bhutan’s most iconic landmarks. The hike takes around four to five hours round trip. In the evening, enjoy trying your hand at archery, Bhutan’s national sport, which offers a fun way to connect with local traditions.

After breakfast, transfer to Paro International Airport which is about a 30-minute drive for your onward journey.
