Detailed Itinerary

On arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by the Goma Travel team and transferred to COMO UMA Paro, a short fifteen minute drive into the valley. In the afternoon, enjoy a scenic hike to Zuri Dzong. This gentle trail passes through forests and ancient paths, offering views that make it feel like stepping into a piece of heaven.

Begin the journey towards Punakha Valley with a stop in Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital. Visit the historic Tamcho Bridge, an iron chain bridge dating back to the 14th century. Explore the lively Centenary Farmers Market where locals gather to sell fresh produce and traditional goods. Continue to the National Postal Museum which is famous for showcasing some of the world’s most beautiful stamps. Afterwards, visit Buddha Dordenma, the tallest sitting Buddha statue in the world. From there, ascend to Dochula Pass at an altitude of 3150 meters where on a clear day the Himalayan range stretches before your eyes and 108 memorial chortens stand gracefully. Drive onwards to Lobesa village and take a pleasant walk through paddy fields to Chimi Lhakhang Temple before continuing into Punakha.

Start the day with a hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten which overlooks the valley, river and terraced fields. This monument was built to promote peace and stability across the world. Later, visit the Punakha Dzong which was built in the 17th century and is one of the most beautiful fortresses in Bhutan, once serving as the administrative and spiritual center of the kingdom.

Drive back towards Paro with stops along the way to break the journey. Cross Dochula Pass once again for another chance to take in the Himalayan views before descending into Paro Valley where you will stay the night.

Begin early for the iconic hike to Taktsang Monastery, more famously known as Tiger’s Nest. This sacred site clings to a cliffside nearly nine hundred meters above the valley floor and the round trip hike takes four to five hours. In the evening, try your hand at archery which is Bhutan’s national sport and enjoy the fun and cultural immersion it brings.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Paro International Airport which is only a ten minute drive for your onward journey.
